Charan Sharma

Born in the town of Nathadwara, Rajasthan in 1950, Chran Sharma obtained his Masters of Art in Drawing and Painting from the University of Udaipur there in 1974. He later studied graphics at the Sir J.J. School of Arts in Mumbai, obtaining a postgraduate diploma on the completion of this course in 1976. Sharma has always been described as very architectonic painter. Most of his paintings depict, with very simples forms and colour, the interiors and exteriors of buildings, whether hovels or palaces. Charan Sharma’s honors include prize at the ‘Painting of the Year’ competition, organized by the United Overseas Bank of Singapore in 1983-84, the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy Award given to him in 1985, and the 1997 Maharana Mawar Foundation Award.
