Deepali Bhattacharya born in 1952 and graduated from the Government College of
Art & Craft, Kolkata in 1974 and is currently an Assistant Professor at the college.
Deepali won a national scholarship from 1976 to 1978. She has exhibited at several
shows in India, including the Jehangir Art Gallery (1996). She has also exhibited in
international shows such as the Gallery Künst in Kotten, Scholingen and Berlin
(1995); La Galerie, Dhaka (1995); Stuttgart, Germany (1996) and London, New York,
San Francisco in 1988. Bhattacharya works in many mediums but finds that she enjoys
the flexibility provided by mixed media. Her subjects are rooted in the life around, people, the environment and the life of Kolkata. Her visual idiom is highly stylized.
