Gopi Gajwani

Gopi Gajwani was born in 1938  in Sindh and graduated in art from Delhi College of Art in 1959. He worked along with the doyens of modern Indian art to establish an energetic art scene in the capital. Gopi Gajwani has held 20 one-man shows of his drawings and paintings and has participated in a number of exhibitions and art camps in India and abroad. His interest for graphic design and colors has helped him formulate his planned out abstractions and also brought him many accolades. His pictorial frames are fields of perfection, going beyond representations. He creates fields of contemplation for the viewers in his paintings.

He is also an ardent photographer and filmmaker and has several short films to his credit while his photographic works have also been widely featured and appreciated.

Gopi Gajwani has made a mark as a pronouncedly abstract painter over the years and as a superb craftsman excelling in impeccably defined contoured shapes and forms

A widely exhibited artist, Gopi Gajwani’s work is held in prominent collections in India and abroad. He is an exuberant painter. His paintings have been described as abstract expressionism. His use of colour is exceptional and speaks of the harmony of a celebrated symphony. He transforms space into shapes and design which are abstract and yet convey meaning when you contemplate its depths.
